Report by John T. (Jack) Longino, The Evergreen State College.
This is a working list of the ants of Cerro Huitepec and Cerro Bazom, Chiapas, Mexico, based on Project LLAMA sampling. Specimen records have been uploaded to the AntWeb database and are periodically updated.
This is a static webpage with links to the AntWeb species pages, where you can see distribution maps on Google Earth. If links are dead, that means the database has changed as hypotheses of species boundaries evolve and names change.
Stenamma have not been entered yet; Michael Branstetter is working on these.
Below the species list is information on relative abundance of species found in the quantitative miniWinkler samples.
Adelomyrmex JTL011
Adelomyrmex micans
Amblyopone orizabana
Camponotus JTL062
Discothyrea JTL007
Formica retecta
Hypoponera
Labidus coecus
Octostruma JTL006
Perissomyrmex snyderi
Pheidole deceptrix
Solenopsis
Strumigenys eversa
Temnothorax JTL014
The following shows the species in rank order of frequency in 100 miniWinkler samples. The number in parentheses following the species is the number of 1m-square miniWinkler samples in which the species occurred. Stenamma are not included. The genera Solenopsis, Hypoponera, and Brachymyrmex were identified to genus only, except for a few distinctive species.
Perissomyrmex snyderi (29)
Labidus coecus (5)
